Frank Lebouef claims Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski would be the “perfect signing” this summer for Chelsea.

With Blues centre-forward Romelu Lukaku linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, it’s no surprise to see Chelsea linked with numerous attackers during this transfer window.

It’s been reported Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is a bid admirer of Lewandowski, who’s confirmed he would like to leave Bayern this summer after eight years in Munich. There’s reportedly been an approach made by the Blues for Bayern’s goal machine, too.

Lewandowski perfect for Chelsea

ESPN pundit and ex-Blues defender Lebouef has given a big thumbs up to speculation linking his former club to Lewandowski.

The 33-year-old’s been recognised as one of the world’s leading forwards for a long time now, scoring 344 goals in 374 Bayern appearances.

“Definitely,” Lebouef responded when asked if he’d like Chelsea to sign Lewandowski this summer.

“He’s a top scorer…. He is still the guy that can hit the net and be successful with the Blues.

“If Lukaku has to go to Inter, I think Lewandowski would be the perfect signing for the Blues.”

Ultimate marquee signing

If the new Chelsea ownership wants to make a loud arrival with a statement signing, it wouldn’t get much bigger than tempting Lewandowski to Stamford Bridge.

He’s a ridiculous goalscorer that would surely be the man to break Chelsea’s curse when it comes to signing high-profile strikers.

It may take a real marquee addition to help close the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool, but you’d suspect it could only be a short-term fix given he turns 34 in August.
