Fresh reports claim that Chelsea are one of the clubs in talks about signing a highly-rated European star, but people are concerned about the player’s ‘attitude and professionalism’.
The Blues continue to show a lot of ambition in the transfer market when it comes to recruitment. In fairness, new additions such as Liam Delap and Joao Pedro have already hit the ground running, starring in the Club World Cup success this summer.
However, Chelsea must not unsettle a close group and risk losing the momentum they’ve gathered in recent months.
The message from the senior bosses is that Chelsea’s players must stay humble despite their recent success on the pitch, winning both the Club World Cup and Conference League. They still need to close the gap to the top teams in their domestic league.

The concern about Chelsea target Xavi Simons
RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, 22, has been linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge this week.
Recent reports claimed that Simons is keen to leave Leipzig, and discussions will soon commence with Chelsea about a possible transfer.
Now, CaughtOffside claims that the agents of Simons have begun talks with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham over a summer deal.
It is explained that the Dutch attacking midfielder is ‘keen’ on playing in the Premier League for the first time in his career. Manchester United and Newcastle United are keeping an eye on the Leipzig star, too.
The report adds that that there are reservations among clubs about the ‘attitude and professionalism’ of Simons, which could impact how much they are willing to pay for him.
Sport Bild reported in March that Simons caused unrest in the Leipzig dressing room with some of his behaviour, claiming he does what he wants at times. It’s definitely a red flag and something Chelsea should consider when weighing him up as a potential signing.

Xavi Simons the player
In terms of Simons the football player, it’s quite obvious that he’s a supreme talent. That’s why Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs are all now in talks about a summer transfer to bring him to England.
The versatile attacking midfielder, who can play as a No.10 or a winger, performed well for Leipzig last term.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 33 | 11 | 8 |
From Chelsea’s perspective, it feels like Simons would be a natural like-for-like replacement for Christopher Nkunku if he exits the club, someone who can cover multiple attacking roles. Incidentally, Chelsea are prepared to sell Nkunku for around £35m in this summer window.
