If Chelsea decide they want to sign a new striker in 2025, you suspect they will make a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Right now, Viktor Gyokeres is probably the best No.9 in football as he continues to score goals for both club and country.
The 26-year-old recently scored for Sweden in their 2-1 Nations League win against Slovakia, while he has already netted 23 times for Sporting this season.
Clubs will now be paying attention to him, if they were not already, but Sporting do not expect Gyokeres to leave in January.

Chelsea could make approach for Viktor Gyokeres
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Gyokeres is a real option for Chelsea and the Blues could make an approach for him in the new year.
However, Phillips has also claimed that there is a belief that the Swede actually wants to move elsewhere.
On his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he wrote: “Chelsea really like Viktor Gyokeres and he is a real option, as he has been for some time. But there is a belief that the player fancies going elsewhere.
“Even still, no movements have been made here yet so I do expect an approach from Chelsea to his agents, whether that becomes public knowledge or not.”
While he has a huge €100m (£83m) release clause in his contract, Sporting could end up selling Gyokeres for just €70m (£58m).
Chelsea’s alternatives to Viktor Gyokeres
There is likely to be a real tussle for Gyokeres’ services, with Chelsea seemingly not his preferred destination.
It means the Blues could quickly find themselves having to look at alternatives, with Lille’s Jonathan David potentially being one.
It has been claimed that both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are eyeing David, who has scored 13 goals in 11 appearances this season.
Randal Kolo Muani wants to stay at PSG, so the France international no longer looks to be an option for Chelsea after being linked to the Blues, though a lot can still happen between now and the end of the season.
Of course, if Nicolas Jackson finishes the campaign with 20 goals in the Premier League, then Chelsea may decide that they do not even need Gyokeres or any other striker.
