Chelsea are interested in signing Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich with just days to go in the transfer window.
Mathys Tel was asked about his future after Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Wednesday and did not rule out an exit.
However, while the winger now appears to be available, Chelsea are going to have to overcome a couple of obstacles if they want to sign him.
Firstly, Tel is believed to have serious reservations about joining Enzo Maresca‘s side during this transfer window, though they may not actually be necessary.

Mathys Tel should not be too worried about competition at Chelsea
The main reason why Tel wants to get out of Bayern is because of his lack of first-team opportunities under Vincent Kompany. This season, he has made just two starts in the Bundesliga.
It seems, though, that Tel is worried about the same thing happening at Chelsea. It has been claimed that Tel is reluctant to join Chelsea because of fears over his playing time.
However, when you look at Chelsea’s squad and consider the 19-year-old’s talent, he should be backing himself to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
With Mykhailo Mudryk suspended and Tyrique George only being promoted to the first team recently, there is not too much competition on the left flank. Jadon Sancho is the only left winger he really has to worry about.
Of course, Mudryk could become available again, but his struggles in west London would suggest that Tel is capable of overtaking him in the pecking order.
Tel can play on the right and up front as well, so his versatility would give him the advantage over someone like Mudryk or even Noni Madueke. All in all, it is a move that could work out for both parties, but Maresca must convince him of that as Chelsea’s Premier League rivals circle.

Which of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals are interested in Mathys Tel?
The whole bunch it seems. Arsenal have joined the race to sign Tel as they look to give themselves a boost in the title race.
Their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur want Tel as well, while Manchester United have also been linked with the France U21 international.
In means that in these final days of the transfer window, there could be a real scrap for Tel’s signature. If Chelsea want to win that battle, then Maresca is going to have to go on the charm offensive.
