Chelsea returned to action on Sunday afternoon when they took on Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
Enzo Maresca’s side headed into the match against Forest in London on the back of a 4-2 victory over Gent at home in the UEFA Europa Conference League (League Stage).
It came after a 4-2 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League last weekend.
Meanwhile, Forest suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham at the City Ground in the Premier League last weekend.
Chelsea were determined to keep their winning run going and enhance their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
However, the Blues failed to pick up all three points from the encounter. After a goalless first half, Chris Wood put Forest in the lead in the 49th minute. Noni Madueke restored parity for Chelsea on 57 minutes.
Forest ended the game with 10 men after James Ward-Prowse was sent off on 78 minutes. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
You can re-live all the action from Stamford Bridge on our blog below.

Good news on the injury front for Chelsea. Maresca has said that Colwill and Madueke will be fine.
REACTION: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – Robert Sanchez not happy with two teammates
Robert Sanchez kept Chelsea in the game and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
The goalkeeper was not happy with two of his teammates, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana, for getting booked. They will now serve a suspension.
Sanchez said: ”Massive players but it was unlucky. They need to stop talking to the officials. We have some very good players to come in.”
[Link]REACTION: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – What Enzo Maresca said to his players
Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has disclosed how head coach Enzo Maresca reacted to the draw.
Sanchez said: “[Enzo] Maresca said at the end we did everything we could and he was proud.”

REACTION: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – Noni Madueke after his goal
Noni Madueke played well today and scored the goal for Chelsea.
What he did immediately after was very interesting.
The BBC 5 Live Extra commentator said: “Noni Madueke runs over in front of his manager Enzo Maresca and has a point and something to say to the Italian, and Chelsea are level.”

REACTION: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – What the fans are saying
One of Chelsea’s best players today was Levi Colwill. He was very good at the back and made a really brilliant block.
Chelsea fans have been raving about Colwill on social media, and we have compiled the best comments for you here.
[Link]FULL TIME: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Now, that was a proper Premier League football match. Absolutely breathtaking!
The first half was not one of the best, but I have to say that the second period was one of the best I have seen in the Premier League so far this season.
[Link]FULL TIME: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
It’s all over at Stamford Bridge in London. The Premier League match between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest has ended in a 1-1 draw.

SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Robert Sanchez has been one of the best players for Chelsea in this game, and he has made yet good save, keeping out Jota Silva’s header.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
We are still playing at Stamford Bridge. Not long, though…
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Neco Williams goes close again, but Robert Sanchez is once again up for the challenge.

SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
It’s all end-to-end at Stamford Bridge now. Both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are going for the winner.
Neco Williams burst through and drew a good save from Robert Sanchez before Matz Sels kept out a point-blank header.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea get a very good chance to potentially win the match.
Pedro Neto plays a brilliant ball in from the right and Joao Felix heads the ball wide.
I think that Felix should have scored.
Meanwhile, Tosin Adarabioyo has replaced Levi Colwill.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Do you know how many minutes of injury time will be played? 13!
Meanwhile, Neco Williams, Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill were booked in the fallout from the earlier melee.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
It is all kicking off at Stamford Bridge now. The two sets of players are at each other and the benches are also involved.
It started after Enzo Maresca was brought down by a Forest player.
SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Cole Palmer almost scores for Chelsea! Wow! So so so close.
The England international goes close for the Blues twice, and on both occasions Matz Sels denied him.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
I do not think that the match will end in a draw. I can see a goal coming… from Chelsea.
Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku have come on for Chelsea, replacing Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Jackson.
Neco Williams, Morato and Anthony Elanga are on for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood and Alex Morena.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – RED CARD
James Ward-Prowse has been sent off for Nottingham Forest.
Ward-Prowse was already on a yellow card, and he has now been shown a second for grabbing the ball as Nicolas Jackson threatened to race through on goal.
Forest are now down to 10 men.

SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
It has been very lively, the last few minutes.
Malo Gusto made a great block to deny Morgan Gibbs-White on the edge of the area. Gibbs-White was hurt and eventually came off. Nicoles Domínguez replaced him.
James Ward-Prowse took the resulting free kick, but it was a poor one and was saved comfortably.
Just before the free kick was taken, Cole Palmer was booked for dissent for questioning the placing of the ball.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
The match is on fire at the moment. Both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are going at it.
Nicolas Jackson almost dispossesses the final defender to go through on goal.
Noni Madueke has had two good chances since his goal, first from an Enzo Fernandez cross and then from Jadon Sancho’s square ball.
Meanwhile, Forest manager Nuno has made a change. Elliot Anderson has been replaced by Jota Silva.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Former Republic of Ireland defender Stephen Kelly was impressed with Madueke’s goal.
Kelly said on BBC Radio 5 Live Online: “Noni Madueke has been the brightest spark for Chelsea all afternoon.
“He comes inside and fires it into the bottom corner. Palmer releases him straight away and you know when he comes inside he only has one thing on his mind.
“A wonderful strike.”

SECOND HALF: Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest – Goal
Chelsea are back on level terms, and it is their best player of the afternoon who has found the back of the net.
Noni Madueke places a neat finish into the bottom corner after cutting inside.
Game on!
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest
Republic of Ireland defender Stephen Kelly gave his verdict on Chris Wood’s goal on Radio 5 Live Online:
Kelly said: “Such a simple free-kick lofted into a good area. Nikola Milenkovic gets contact and Chris Wood directs it into the far corner. It is so simple and Chelsea don’t deal with the long ball. Exactly how Forest will have wanted to start this half.”

SECOND HALF: Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest
I think Maresca is going to make changes soon. Nkunku, Felix and Neto are warming up at the moment.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea players were not happy at all. They wanted a VAR check.
SECOND HALF: Chelsea 0-1 Nottingham Forest – GOAL
Nottingham Forest have taken the lead now at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are behind!
It is Chris Wood who has broken the deadlock in London.
Nikola Milenkovic flicks on a free-kick and Wood sticks out his boot to score.
[Link]SECOND HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea have the first chance of the second half. Moises Caicedo tries his luck from distance, but it does not cause any problem really for Sels.
[Link]HALF TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest – First Half Stats
Let us now look at the stats from the first half.
Chelsea had 66.3% of the possession, took nine shots of which two were on target, took 29 touches in the box, won eight headers and won one corner.
Nottingham Forest had 33.7%, took six shots of which two were on target, took seven touches in the box, won six headers, and won one corner.
[Link]HALF TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest – Talking points
It has not exactly been a great match, but it has been quite interesting and intriguing.
Madueke has been Chelsea’s best player so far. He is the one who is causing Forest problems.
Forest, though, have also asked questions of the Chelsea defence, with Yates going close.

HALF TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
It is half time at Stamford Bridge at the moment. It is goalless between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League game.

FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea go close, oh, so so so close! And then Forest almost score!
Madueke is the creator once again. Cole Palmer gets the ball and is closed down as he shoots, but it could have gone in. I think Palmer probably thought that it was in.
And then seconds later, Yates almost scores, but Colwill makes a very good and important block.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Murillo goes close to breaking the deadlock! I have to say that it was the best chance of the match so far.
The Forest start strides forward from midfield and hammers a powerful shot towards the Chelsea goal. Robert Sanchez rises to the challenge and keeps it out.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
James Ward-Prowse gets into the book for a foul on Cole Palmer.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Nicolas Jackson is not having the best of games at the moment. He is taking good positions and is trying to find space, but his teammates are unable to find him at the moment.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Jadon Sancho is weaving his magic. The winger finds Malo Gusto on the edge of the Forest box. Gusto goes for goal, but the shot is nowhere near target.

FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Noni Madueke tries his luck again and goes close. Meanwhile, Moises Caicedo is booked for a foul. James Ward-Prowse’s free kick is poor.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Morgan Gibbs-White gets in on the action now. The Forest star is able to use the space ahead of him, but his final effort is disappointing.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Noni Madueke is actually having a good game. He has got Alex Moreno’s number. The Forest full-back is really struggling.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea have had one chance so far, although it was more of a half-chance really. Madueke tried his luck from just inside the area. It went wide.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Forest go close to scoring, but it would not have mattered anyway. Ryan Yates gets a free header, but it is straight at Robert Sanchez. The flag is up. Yates was offside.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Chelsea are starting to assert themselves on the match. Enzo Maresca’s side are seeing plenty of the ball in these opening minutes.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Cole Palmer gets on the ball for the first time, and the Chelsea fans get exited. He is a player in form. Some might even say that he is the best player in the Premier League at the moment.
[Link]FIRST HALF: Chelsea 0-0 Nottingham Forest
Forest have started the game confidently, I have to say, but it is still very early. No clear-cut chance for either side.
[Link]BUILD-UP: Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest – My prediction
I am backing Chelsea to pick up all three points today. I do not think that it will be easy for the Blues.
Forest will not be very open at the back and will try to keep it tight defensively.
But with Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho in top form right now, I am confident that Chelsea will find a way through.
I am predicting a 2-1 win for Chelsea.
[Link]BUILD-UP: Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest – Alan Shearer prediction
BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer has also backed Chelsea to win today.
Shearer wrote: “Chelsea are flying, there’s no doubt about it. Forest had a poor result at home against Fulham and will be looking to bounce back but with the form Chelsea are in, and in particular Cole Palmer, I’d have to say Chelsea will win once again.”
[Link]BUILD-UP: Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest – Chris Sutton prediction
BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton thinks that Chelsea will win 2-1.
Sutton wrote: “Cole Palmer, who will go down as ‘the one that Manchester City let get away’, is on fire at the moment, and it is as if he has got eyes in the back of his head.
“I absolutely love watching him play because everything is so easy for him, and it feels like he is going to score every time he plays.
“Forest will probably nick a goal, because I am not convinced with how Chelsea defend, but this is definitely a home win – I am sure of it.”
[Link]BUILD-UP: Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest – Paul Merson prediction
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has backed Chelsea to win 4-2.
Merson wrote: “I just can’t see Chelsea not scoring goals, but I also can’t see Forest not scoring against the Blues’ defence either. That’s why I think there’ll be plenty of goals in this game. Even if Chelsea look a bit shaky at the back, you can at least see what they are trying to do, unlike Manchester United.”

Let’s now take a look at Nottingham Forest.
Forest are a decent team and are doing relatively well at the moment.
Nuno’s side are 11th in the Premier League table. They have picked up nine points from six matches.
Forest are unlikely to be involved in a relegation fight this season. They are already six points above the relegation zone.

No surprise really in how Chelsea will start today.
Robert Sanchez has not been in great form lately, and the goalkeeper has to make sure that he does not make any mistakes and is at the top of his game against Forest.
Cole Palmer will be the creator-in-chief for the Blues, who will also Jadon Sancho as a big threat in attack.
