Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca seems very happy with some of his players’ performances against West Ham United.

Chelsea beat West Ham 3-0 at the London Stadium over the weekend thanks to Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer. Jackson scored a first-half brace before Palmer killed the game off right after the restart.

Pat Nevin was one pundit who lauded Jackson following his display in east London.

But several other Chelsea players have also come in for praise after that impressive win against the Hammers, including Moises Caicedo.

Enzo Maresca impressed with Moises Caicedo’s performance

Jason Cundy claimed that Caicedo was “brilliant” in Chelsea’s latest outing, and Maresca would not disagree.

In fact, after the game, the 44-year-old told Chelsea’s official website that Caicedo put in a “top” performance.

On the midfielder, Maresca said: “He is top. His performance yesterday [Saturday] was very good, but since we started Moi has been fantastic and yesterday once again he was top.”

Like with Jackson, Nevin also had praise for Caicedo, who faces his former club on the weekend when Chelsea take on Brighton & Hove Albion.

Moises Caicedo has been fantastic

Since Maresca’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, Caicedo has been fantastic. It is not just the West Ham game where the 22-year-old has impressed.

Caicedo also performed well in Chelsea’s previous win against Bournemouth. During that match, he made four tackles, which was more than any other player on the pitch (Sofascore).

Comparisons with N’Golo Kante are starting to emerge, and it is not hard to see why. Their profiles are quite similar.

However, the Ecuador international, who earns £150,000 a week at Chelsea (Spotrac), will need to show consistency and help the team win trophies if he wants to reach Kante’s legendary status.

Five good games will not suffice, especially for a player who cost more than £100m. But looking at those five games, Caicedo is certainly on the right track.

Being a midfielder, Caicedo may not ever be able to justify his price tag to some. But if he continues to help Chelsea win games, the club will not care about that.
