The future of Chelsea attacker Jadon Sancho is certainly a big talking point in the media right now, but he’ll be trying to cancel the noise to focus on the business end of the season.
Jadon Sancho, 25, is part of a Chelsea squad desperately trying to qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the Premier League’s top five. On top of that, the Blues are in the quarter-finals of the Conference League.
Sancho has enjoyed regular minutes so far this campaign with the Blues, scoring two goals and creating seven assists in 30 games across all competitions. However, it does feel like the English winger is capable of going through the gears and doing much more.
Steve Sidwell wants more from Sancho on the pitch amid plenty of criticism from supporters.
| Player | Goals |
| Cole Palmer | 14 |
| Nicolas Jackson | 9 |
| Noni Madueke | 7 |
| Enzo Fernandez | 5 |
| Marc Cucurella | 4 |
| Pedro Neto | 3 |
| Christopher Nkunku | 3 |
| Jadon Sancho | 2 |
Sancho joined Chelsea last summer on a season-long loan from Manchester United, which included an obligation to buy for around £25m. It’s interesting to note that Chelsea can opt out of buying Sancho if they cough up a £5m penalty fee, though.

Jadon Sancho feels upbeat at Chelsea, he doesn’t want Manchester United return
According to GiveMeSport, Sancho is ‘very happy’ at Chelsea right now, even if he’s been the centre of some poor form and criticism.
Apparently, the wide man is committed and focus on doing well for the Blues, especially as they prepare for a key part of the season.
The report states that ‘those close’ to Sancho claim it’s ‘almost impossible’ that he’ll return to Old Trafford to play for Man Utd again. If Chelsea back out of signing him permanently, Man Utd’s plan would be to find a different suitor.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca publicly criticised Sancho during a recent interview by claiming that the winger needs to do better with his attacking output.
We’ll have to wait and see whether the Englishman is still at Stamford Bridge next season. Currently, we’d lean towards not signing him rather than adding him permanently, but a strong finish in the following months could change things.

Jamie Gittens would be interesting alternative to Jadon Sancho
In terms of alternative wingers Chelsea could use next season, Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens has been strongly linked as a potential transfer target.
At the age of 20, Gittens already looks like a star in the making with his performance in German football. The English speedster is a skilful winger with plenty of tricks, pace and directness to his game.
| Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 42 | 12 | 5 |
Interestingly, Gittens has asked to leave Dortmund this summer, and a move to the Premier League appeals to him.
Chelsea have laid the groundwork to sign Gittens after discussions with Dortmund in January, but will they push to sign him at the end of the season? On paper, he could be a like-for-like replacement for Sancho, but a much younger version.
